The disease I chose to talk about was the common cold. I know that there are other, far more lethal diseases out there, but I just wanted to pick and talk about one that is so obvious, no one would ever think to choose it.

CoriM: Healthcare Not So Fair

As for the new health care bill, I’m not a big supporter. I keep reading newspaper articles about the implemented changes and keep finding that not even a professional writer can make it sound good. I had the chance to speak with some doctors about how they felt about the new healthcare reform. Needless to say, not too many were excited about the changes that are to come about. Besides who like to deal with insurance companies? So what I found was that family practitioner’s salaries will be hit hard with the new insurance mandate, not to mention they will be required to provide insurance to all employees. I mean, the doctors are getting hit hard a decreased salary yet they are being asked to spend more money, sort of ironic no?
Obama is also trying to get all doctors to use electronic records for all patients. If this law gets passed, it would cut out a huge part of professional writing but would also save patients time since there would be less forms to fill out. These electronic records would also be used to fill prescriptions, eliminating the need to fill out lengthy forms. The only problem is that technology isn’t reliable (the power goes out, files can be hacked, computer viruses) where as written records are always accessible.

James M: Write With the Best

When writing professionally as a lawyer it is very important that they are meticulous and correct in all phases of their writing process. One mistake or ill explained thought can be the deciding factor that loses an attorney any given case. Also lawyers must always know what kind of audience their writing to and use the appropriate language in their writing. When writing to a judge it’s important that the attorney’s writing looks professional, clear, and concise. This is because a judge does not want to be distracted or mislead by unneeded information or run on sentences, it will only make you look less qualified and the judge less likely to agree with your argument. But when writing to a client it may be ok to use more detailed and less formal approach to ensure that they know everything they should know and aren’t left confused by the wording in the document. A great deal of a lawyer’s success is going to depend on how well they can communicate in writing, so it is of the upmost importance that a lawyer knows exactly how to compose all their written documents.

Kelly G. Dr. Vs. Nurse

Doc Vs. Nurse

The purpose of this toondoo is to portray the difference between the amount of professional writing required for a doctor and a nurse. For the most part nurses are expected to generate reports, keep records and write perscriptions that the doctor signs off on. The doctor is there to make the diagnosis. The biggest difference between a doctor and a nurse the the pay difference. Since doctors go to school longer, they make more. Nurses still make adequate pay but not nearly as much as the doctor, and they do more work.

Cancer has devastated millions of families across the world. There are more than 400 different types of cancers that one can be diagnosed with. Personally my family has been heavily affected twice due to this disease.

The first person who was diagnosed in my family with my Grandfather, my mom’s dad. He has colon cancer, which was diagnosed as “high grade” and rapidly spread throughout his entire body. My grandfather died peacefully in his sleep 13 years ago when I was ten.

The second person who was diagnosed with cancer was my best friend, my hero, my mother. She was diagnosed with cervical cancer. She fought the cancer for 5 years and peacefully past away in October 2008.

Cancer has made me struggle with loss and heartache. Every day I miss my grandfather and my mother dearly. Cancer has made me struggle the past year without a mother and I continue to fight the battle against cancer even though I do not have it.

If I could cure any disease, it would be cancer!

Doctor's are doing research on how to cure cancer. Professional writing is extremely important in finding a cure for cancer because researcher/doctors have to write several documentations, reports, memos, letters, in order to find a cure. It is important that these types of communication and documentations are accurate, professional, informative, and have appropriate tone for each type of professional writing that is being done.
