CoriM: The Docs of Real Estate Law

If you’re in real estate law it is imperative to have professional writing skills in order to draft documents. These could include lease agreements, rental applications, mortgage, and eviction notices. They’re relatively simple and websites offer free templates for downloading which make the process easier for people at home.

Mortgage documents seem all too common in these hard economic times, anything to refinancing to cancellation. However, bills of sale and closing documents are also common since the housing market is at an all time low.

When it comes to rentals it is always important to get written documentation of rental details and “rules”, such as if pets are allowed and how many people may occupy the house. Receipts are also useful to the landlord and tenant to keep track of rental payments made and received. Written documents are more easily enforced and provide solid evidence should you have to dispute/make a case in court.
